Is Your Wireless Internet Provider the Best?
You have wireless internet because you heard it was great and that it was new technology and that is what you wanted. But how good is your provider? Did you just go on the recommendation of a friend and not do any of your own research? How can you tell if you made the right choice?
This post will help you see whether or not you have made the best choice of wireless internet provider. Here are some ways to tell:
- Speed
- Cost
- Support
- Up Time

Speed – you should know how fast your connection is. For wireless users this should be somewhere between 384 Kbps to 2 Mbps or even more by the time you read this. Did you pay for a plan with a specific speed? How do you know you are getting this speed? There are many speed checkers online, just search for it in an engine and run the tests. If there is a large discrepancy then you should look into it.
Cost – You may have purchased a plan that has download limits or maybe not. Look around at competitors pricing and plans and see how similar they are to what you are paying. Make sure you look at the speed and download allowances. If it looks like you are getting taken for a ride, then bring it up with your wireless internet provider.
Support – Have you had any problems lately? How easy was it to get through to someone? Did they take the time to listen and then inform you well? Sometimes providers treat their customers as if they have no knowledge or anything technical and sometimes the opposite, that the customers have a lot of knowledge. Support people on the phone have to have the right balance.
Uptime – Hopefully your connection does not drop out regularly or at all. If so, make sure it is not your hardware. If not, then your internet provider must be very good about communicating the reasons for down time and they must fix it with urgency. It is a good idea to go onto forums and see what other people are saying about your wireless provider and the experiences they are having. It would be good if you had a system similar to dual sim phones where you can share one device between two carriers. If you had that with a wireless provider you would always have a backup.
Gather all of your information together and you will be able to determine if you are ok. Maybe your provider is not so good but no one else is that good either. You have to be ok with the fact that you are getting the best of the service that is currently being offered by everyone even though it may not be the greatest.
